Non-delivery report after sending e-mail in Outlook 2000?

Microsoft Outlook is a classic e-mail client which offers its users a slew of user-friendly features. Its major strength lies in the vital Personal Folders (PST) file which stores all its major components including e-mails, calendar, contacts, distribution lists, journals etc. Despite being a highly-acclaimed e-mail client, it can create several problems when the PST file gets corrupt. PST corruption is a grave situation because it not only restricts you from sending/receiving mails but leads to complete data inaccessibility. Such situations can prove detrimental to your work and may even result in financial loses. To counter corruption problems, it is best that you switch to a healthy backup of the damaged PST file. However, if you do not have a reliable backup to use, then you should consider using effective PST repair measures.

Consider a scenario, wherein, you have Outlook 2000 installed on your computer. You open it and draft an urgent e-mail to your boss and colleagues regarding the status of work on the new project. Surprisingly, the message doesn't get delivered, and you receive the following error message from the system administrator:

"No transport provider was available for delivery to this recipient."

The above error message is commonly recognized as an NDR, Non-Delivery Report.

Cause

The reasons behind the above error message could be varied. Here is a list of the possible causes:

· If the mail server doesn't identify or recognize your e-mail address

· If you have an incorrectly configured mail transport in the mail profile

· If the distribution list contains a damaged contact

· If there is an apostrophe in your computer name

· Or if the PST file is damaged or corrupt

Resolution

The following methods, which also include Outlook PST repair tricks, would help you eliminate the problem:

· The above error occurs if you connect to the Web through one Internet Service Provider (ISP), and use another ISP to send an e-mail. Send the e-mail using the active connection.

· Verify all the settings of the mail transport by comparing them with the information given by your ISP

· In order to find the damaged contact, send test mails to small groups of the original distribution list, once you receive the NDR, you will be able to narrow down your hunt and locate the erring contact. Then, you can easily remove it.

· Give a new name to your computer sans an apostrophe

· If none of the methods resolve your problem, it is clear that the PST file is corrupt. You must fix the errors with the PST file by using a third-party PST repair tool
